Fundamental Financial Planning Pty Ltd is an organisation providing financial services. To do this task for our clients effectively we will need information about them.

The privacy of your personal information has always been important to us.

We are committed to respecting your right to privacy and protecting your personal information. We are bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) as well as other applicable laws and codes affecting your personal information. Our staff is trained to respect your privacy in accordance with our standards, policies and procedures.

It includes all our banking, financing, funds management, financial planning, superannuation, insurance, broking and e-commerce organisations.

About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy outlines how we manage your personal information.

It also describes generally the sorts of personal information held and for what purposes, and how that information is collected, held, used and disclosed.

It is a requirement under various laws for us to obtain comprehensive information about you before giving advice on anything that we may recommend. In collecting that information we will ensure that the information is collected, stored and disseminated in accordance with National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth).

If you are acquiring or have acquired a financial product or service from Fundamental Financial Planning, it will collect and hold your personal information for the purposes of:

  • providing you with advice on the relevant product or service (including assessing your loan application and identifying you)
  • Advising you, managing and administering the product or service.

Fundamental Financial Planning organisations may also collect your personal information for the purpose of letting you know about products or services from Fundamental Financial Planning that might better serve your financial and lifestyle needs.

The information collected to comply with the laws that affect financial advisers is quite comprehensive and could include anything that relates to your personal and financial circumstances.

We will, if it is reasonable or practicable to do so, collect your personal information from you personally. This may happen when you fill out a client profile, a product or service application or an administrative form (eg a change of address form) or when you give us personal information over the telephone or counter, or through a Fundamental Financial Planning website.

In certain cases we collect your personal information from third parties. For this we need you to complete a Limited Power of Attorney which authorises us to collect and manage your personal and financial information.

For example, we may need to collect personal information from your bank, superannuation fund, legal adviser, your accountant, your employer or publicly available sources of information or any of the other organisations identified below under 'Using and Disclosing Your Personal Information'.

Where your personal information is disclosed we will seek to ensure that the information is held, used or disclosed consistently with the National Privacy Principles and other applicable privacy laws and codes.

The relevant organisations and people are those:

  • Involved in providing, managing or administering a product or service such as investments, superannuation, banking services, loans, your tax returns, your legal affairs and your estate planning.
  • Fundamental Financial Planning advisers who wish to advise you of products or services that might better serve your financial and lifestyle needs or promotions or other opportunities, and their related service providers, except where you tell us not to;
  • banking and finance products or services other organisations to which personal information is usually disclosed are, mortgage insurance companies, your guarantors, organisations involved in valuing, surveying, or registering a security property or which otherwise have an interest in such property, share transacting or broking services; trustee or custodial services and their advisers and other organisations involved in our normal business practices
  • Involved in a transfer of all or part of the assets or business;
  • As required or authorised by law, for example, to government or regulatory bodies for purposes related to public health or safety, the prevention or detection of unlawful activities or to protect public revenue;
  • Where you have given your consent.
  • Life insurance products or general insurance products other organisations to which personal information is usually disclosed are medical professionals, medical facilities, health authorities, assessors, underwriters, reinsurers and fraud detection agencies and other organisations involved in our normal business practices.

Marketing our products and services

It is our practice to seek your consent to use or disclose your personal information to let you know about, and develop, products and services from Fundamental Financial Planning that might better serve your financial and lifestyle needs or promotions or other opportunities in which you may be interested. This may be done after initial contact. We assume we have your consent to use service providers to assist us with this. (Such as a posting service or an advertising agency), unless you tell us otherwise.

Dealing with us anonymously

You cannot deal with us anonymously unless you specifically request, it is practicable to do so and it is not against the law.

Your sensitive information

In certain circumstances such as if you wish to become a Fundamental Financial Planning Pty Ltd adviser or staff member you will need to complete a detailed application and we may request sensitive personal and financial information and other information such as details of any personal or business relationships, criminal history and health details from you. We will ask you to consent to our proposed uses of the information. We may also collect personal information incidentally and apply to obtain information from a third party. By providing us with unsolicited sensitive personal information incidentally, you consent to us using the information subject to applicable laws.

Without your consent we will not collect information about you that reveals your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs or affiliations, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, details of health, disability, sexual orientation, or criminal record.

  • You are always welcome to speak directly to our advisers and staff and they will do their best to resolve your issue. If investigation is required we will keep you advised of progress. If staff are unable to resolve the matter, it will be escalated as appropriate to facilitate resolution;
